Nursing Staff in Cancer Services

Within each of the various services there are staff that can provide you with information throughout your care.  The following specialist nursing staff work within such departments and can provide support as part of your care.

Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Our advanced nurse practitioners provide nurse-led care for you at different stages of your cancer. They can carry out:

  • carry out patient assessments
  • carry out patient examinations
  • prescribe medications
  • refer for you to other health care professionals.

Clinical Nurse Specialists

Our clinical nurse specialists provide ongoing care and support for you from your diagnosis and throughout your cancer journey.  They will also coordinate multidisciplinary referrals for you.

Acute Oncology/Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist Service

The acute oncology / haematology nurse will support you while you are going through active treatment and are unwell or have symptoms on treatment while at home. These treatments include in-patient or outpatient intravenous (drip/injections), oral medications or radiotherapy.
Opening hours: Our acute oncology / haematology service operates from Monday to Friday from 8am to 5.30pm.
